SecureDNA Documentation

1 What is SecureDNA?

SecureDNA is a free, non-profit screening platform designed to safeguard DNA synthesis everywhere. Visit the website and FAQ for more information.

1.1 How do I use this guide?

This guide explains how to set up and use the SecureDNA software, and how it works. Which parts you should read depends on your role:

  1. If you are a DNA synthesis provider, and you’d like to start using SecureDNA in your screening workflow, see Installation.
  2. If you are a benchtop DNA synthesizer manufacturer, and you’d like to run SecureDNA on your hardware, see Installation.
  3. If you are a virology researcher, you probably do not need to install anything. However, if you need to synthesize a sequence of concern, and your organization uses SecureDNA, you may need to request an exemption token. See About Exemptions.
  4. If you are a biosafety authority approving exemption requests, see About Exemptions.
